FIAN TD-3 March 1994 AVERAGE MULTIPLICITIES IN GLUON AND QUARK JETS IN HIGHER-ORDER PERTURBATIVE QCD
The ratio of average multiplicities in gluon and quark jets is shown to become noticeably smaller in higher-order QCD compared to its lowest order value what improves agreement with experiment. QCD anomalous dimension has been calculated. It has been used to get energy dependence of mean multiplicities. e-mail address : [email protected] e-mail address : [email protected]
متن کاملHadron Multiplicities
We review results on hadron multiplicities in high energy particle collisions. Both theory and experiment are discussed. The general procedures used to describe particle multiplicity in Quantum Chromo-dynamics (QCD) are summarized. The QCD equations for the generating functions of the multiplicity distributions are presented both for fixed and running coupling strengths. The mean multiplicities...
متن کاملQcd Evolution of Hadron and Jet Multiplicity Moments *
We describe recent applications of the MLLA evolution equations to the calculation of mean multiplicities in quark and gluon jets and the higher moments of hadron and sub-jet multiplicity distributions in e + e −-annihilation as function of c.m.s. energy Q and resolution parameter ycut. The transition from jets to hadrons with increasing jet resolution is considered.
متن کاملEvolution of Average Multiplicities of Quark and Gluon Jets
The energy evolution of average multiplicities of quark and gluon jets is studied in perturbative QCD. Higher order (3NLO) terms in the perturbative expansion of equations for the generating functions are found. First and second derivatives of average multiplicities are calculated. The mean multiplicity of gluon jets is larger than that of quark jets and evolves more rapidly with energy. It is ...

We report on an experimental comparison of the characteristics of quark-induced jets based on an analysis of jet events selected from hadronic events at c.m. energy of 60 GeV in e+e- annihilations. The triangle plot shows that the majority are two-jet events. The three-jet events are also present but not as many as two-jet events. The mean transverse momentum is larger for three-jet events th...
